First launched by EURORDIS and its Council of National Alliances in 2008, Rare Disease Day is now in its 9th year and is recognized in over 80 countries on the last day of February each year. The main objective of Rare Disease Day is to raise awareness amongst the general public and decision-makers about rare diseases and their impact on patients’ lives.
PRA Health Sciences recognizes the unique set of medical, scientific and operational challenges faced whilst conducting clinical research involving rare diseases. Our relevant experience encompasses Phase I-IV studies in 11 therapeutic areas and a wide range of indications. To date, we have contributed to the successful market approvals of 14 drugs to treat rare indications.
Our animated infographic highlights the plight of many rare disease patients, particularly the challenges of receiving misdiagnoses and the financial burden often caused by several years of diagnostic testing and specialist visits, amongst other factors.
PRA are proud to support and acknowledge Rare Disease Day, and along with many other organizations we will continue to work tirelessly to improve the lives of rare disease patients.
