We at #EduTECHAsia have been working tirelessly to keep our community engaged and provide opportunities for the entire education community to learn and share during this crisis period.
Earlier this month on 9th April at 5pm SGT, we launched our weekly #EduTECHAsia Live Webinar series for the education community to bring fresh insights, strategies and tips from a panel of expert speakers!
Focused on the theme of “Using technology to deliver lessons in a crisis”, this first webinar featured a fantastic panel of speakers, who were already in their week 10 of online learning. Joining us were Atima Joshi, Principal of Middle International School, Singapore who moderated the panel, and Naima Charlier, Director of Teaching and Learning from Nord Anglia International School, Hong Kong, Mike Keppell, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Learning & Teaching at Taylor’s University, Malaysia, Lee Falconer, IT Director & Assistant at The British International School at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and last but not least, Fung Fun Man, Instructor of Chemistry & Learning Sciences from National University of Singapore who joined in as panellists.
The sudden closure of schools and universities due to the current crisis situation has made it necessary for educators to deliver online learning, and we thought what better way to start then addressing this very important topic on how to use technology to deliver lessons during a crisis. During the 45-minutes panel discussion, the panel discussed how in this unforeseen and unpredictable landscape, schools and universities can tap into the appropriate technologies to push the forefront of online teaching. Besides that, they also discussed tips and methods on making learning interactive and interesting for students and create an effective virtual learning environment. Towards the end of the panel discussion, the last 15 minutes was dedicated for a live Q&A session where our audience had a chance to get all their burning questions answered.
