#EduTECH Asia’s Webinar series has been put together to continue sharing with our education community on what is upcoming in EdTech and how schools and universities are continuing with teaching and learning during current challenging times.
Partnering up with D2L, we put together our 7th Webinar on 14th May to discuss on the topic of “Education going online now and for the future”. The webinar focused on how some institutions are preparing their faculty, students and have adapted innovative e-learning platforms in a quick turnaround response to COVID-19.
Joining us for the panel discussion were Fung Fun Man, Instructor of Chemistry & Learning Sciences, National University of Singapore, who moderated the panel; and May Wan Lit, Associate Director Learning Systems and Technologies, Singapore Management University, Rogelio Dela Cruz Jr, Head – Educational Technology Office, De La Salle University – College of St Benilde, Philippines, Nick Hutton, Regional Director, D2L Asia, who joined us as panellists.
The Philippines has suffered from an inexhaustible number of deadly typhoons, earthquakes, volcano eruptions and other natural disasters. More recently, with the sudden closure of schools and universities across the Philippines due to COVID – 19, this has necessitated the online delivery of a vast number of courses. And while there have been inevitable problems, the entire Filipino education learning community has been collaborating to identify best practices for successful online learning. During the 45-minute panel discussion, the panellists discussed how institutions prepared their faculty and students for the change and what would they have done things differently if such a global situation happens again. The last 15 minutes of the webinar was dedicated for a live Q&A session, where the panellists shared tips and tricks on maintaining their engagement with students through an increased or fully online environment.
