#EduTECH Asia’s Webinar series has been put together to continue sharing with our education community on what is upcoming in EdTech and how schools and universities are continuing with teaching and learning during current challenging times.
Our 10th Webinar on 26th May was on the topic “Transformation in Assessment – how online assessment can be effective now and to be prepared for the future” which was run in partnership with AWS. The webinar focused on how institutions have been building and delivering authentic online/virtual assessments, especially in times like the current global crisis.
Joining us for the panel discussion were Mike Keppell, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Teaching and Learning, Taylor’s University, Malaysia, who moderated the panel; and Andrew Parker, VP Customer Solutions, Elumina eLearning, Sebastian Vos, Chief Executive Officer, ExamSoft, Vincent Quah, Regional Head for Education, Research, Healthcare and Not-For-Profit, Asia Pacific and Japan Global Public Sector, Amazon Web Services, Cliff Ashford, Delivery Leader Research and Education Services Domain Business Intelligence and Analytics Capability, Virtual Augmented Reality Services Unit, Monash University, Australia, who joined us as panellists.
Over the last couple of months, schools and institutions are shut down and have to deploy online learning whether they are ready or not in a matter of weeks and even days. However, with no luxury of time to experiment, schools and institutions now are pressed to incorporate authentic online assessment strategies to achieve students’ online learning progress, differentiate themselves from other institutions, and also prepare for a very different future. During the 45-minute panel discussion, the panellists discussed about the opportunities and challenges with online assessments as well as the delivery of a seamless digital learning experience. The last 15 minutes of the webinar was dedicated for a live Q&A session, where the panellists shared tips and tricks on how cloud services can provide scalability and security to institutions to build the case for widespread adoption for online/virtual assessments.
