As the Internet of Things become more integrated within our societies and organisations, there is an increased demand for improved interoperability, convenience and user-friendly interpretation, to ensure that all the data collected can be easily collected and processed. One start-up doing just this is Remedial Performance and we spoke to Thomas Guillet, Founding Director and CEO, ahead of him joining us at the upcoming IoT Show Asia 2016 on 1-2 September in Singapore.
What is Remedial Performance about?
Remedial Performance Pte Ltd’s ambition is to become a market leader in Industrial IoT. We are offering plug and play IoT gateway and cloud platforms to gather information straight on your desk. Data is vital to good decision-making but in many industrial organizations today, huge amounts of data are stranded in data silos and inaccessible to those that need it most. By combining Sensalite gateway with our Sightgate IIoT cloud platform, you can seamlessly connect your devices, visualise your data, apply analytics and share with stakeholder within your organization. Sightgate Store offers access to stunning pre-built templates from our partner affiliate program – you can cut-down your IoT investment by 80% while improving time to market ten-fold. Remedial Performance Pte Ltd is the partner of choice for your Industrial IoT application.
What sparked the establishment of Remedial Performance?
It was a long-term dream of mine to start my own company. I had been working in the oil and gas industry for around ten years already when I was assigned as a Production Optimization Engineer for a leading service provider. My first assignment was in the Democratic Republic of Congo as a production engineer for an oil field operator. Frankly it was shocking to me to see how out-dated the technology being deployed was. And what surprised me more was how resistant people within the industry were to change. I sensed the opportunity to fuse my passion for innovation with the practical requirements of monitoring processes in this industry and that was the genesis of the company.
How is it going to disrupt the IoT landscape?
#1 IoT driver is to lower operational costs while developing sustainable business model/proving ROI. Our solution has the fastest return on investment for your IoT initiatives. For exemple, Sightgate Connector enable you to gather information from any Modbus controllers in the market, giving us access to more than 70% interpolarity with legacy systems. Our HTML5 web builder will allow our users to customise thier own dashboard without any coding skills. Our Lua Cloud Engine enable you to implement complex predictive analytic with smart alarms notifications. Last and not least, we give access to a full set of communication tools enabling you to share with your collaborators for better and faster decision making. Stop by our booth to know more.
What do you enjoy most about running your start-up?
Be in control of your own decisions. That’s the most enjoyable part. Other than that, running a start-up has many pervasive challenges. Clients asking for unrealistic payment conditions, suppliers asking for guarantees, shareholders asking for results, while maintaining constant employee motivation. We must concede a lot in order to succeed.
Are there any cool projects that you are currently working on that you can share with us?
We are currently working on a pilot project in Oil Field Indonesia for Wellhead monitoring. Our client has a mature field with around 400 producing wells totally unequipped. With high oil prices, operators were focusing on drilling new wells instead of relying on existing producing wells. Today, oil price is a game changer. In order to maintain production quota grants by government, Operators must optimise their running assets. I deeply believe that Industrial IoT is the solution to enhance production at lower data acquisition cost. It will drastically reduce operational expenditure by optimising resources allocation and improving working conditions.
The pilot will take place on 3 wells during a period of 3 months. We will be deploying the first LoraWan Private Network in Indonesia to gather Wellhead pressure on 3 different locations. Thanks to our Sensalite Lora Gateway, we will be collecting and streaming data to our SIGHTGATE platform. Map widget will display well location and live parameters while our Lua engine will predict when well pressure build up is reached, to put the well into production and when it should be closed. It will allow our client to schedule crew assignment and prevent unnecessary mobilisation on-site. We estimate a return on investment in less than 6 months.
