We caught up with Simon Daum, Head of Digital Agenda at Deutsche Bahn, one of the world’s leading mobility and logistics companies. In our conversation, Simon shared his insights on how the advent of autonomous vehicles will shape the future of passenger mobility.
1.Could you share something about yourself with our readers?
As Head of Digital Agenda, I report to the group CDO and am in charge of transforming the classic business which Deutsche Bahn is active in. Apart from its dominant position within Germany, the group is active around the world with brands as DB Schenker and DB Arriva.
2. Could you give our readers a quick teaser on what you will be speaking at the show?
I will introduce the two pilot cases of autonomous mini busses we have on the road in Germany plus give you an outlook towards our vision on how the world of mobility will be changing.
3. Why is this topic close to your heart?
With super crowded inner cities, we are already today highly dependant on next level solutions beyond the single occupied car. Urban space is highly valuable to the inhabitants of a city. We need to make better use of that than we do today.
4. What do you think the key challenges are in the digitalization of the rail/transport industry?
Our major challenge is trifold: tapping in completely new business models without forgetting about where we are coming from, understanding data as what it is, the most precious asset we actually got and acting responsible in that role.
5. Why are you excited to attend the show?
TechX covers the technologies and industries we are interested in in a uniquely condensed way. I am hoping to enjoy two super efficient days with the right peers.
Simon will be joining us at this year’s TECHX Asia, taking place 6-7 September 2017 in Singapore. As Asia’s leading event on commercial applications of emerging technologies, TECHX will bring together leading minds, entrepreneurs and innovators across the entire spectrum of emerging technologies: IoT, drones, AI, 3D, robotics, data and blockchain.
