Be a part of Vietnam’s $148bn energy market opportunity

Over the last few decades Vietnam has made outstanding progress in bringing down poverty and positioning its economy on a sustainable growth path. This growth increasingly exerts pressure on existing energy supplies and infrastructure, calling for effective solutions to improve power system efficiency, ensure adequate and reliable supplies, and increase electrification rates.

The Vietnam power market is undergoing major restructuring, gearing towards a competitive wholesale and retail market, and increasing its installed capacity to more than 135GW by 2030. With the revision of the power development plan unveiled in March 2016, stronger emphasis is placed on energy security, energy efficiency, renewable energy development and power market liberalisation.

New power plant construction, new renewable energy project rollout, new power line construction and new smart grid deployment. These all speak to the immense opportunity in Vietnam’s energy market. Vietnam is poised to receive VND3207trn (US$148bn) worth of investments in generation and distribution capacity between now and 2030, with both domestic and international investors keeping their eyes peeled on these energy sector developments.
