It’s an exciting time for the rail industry in Australia, with new metro networks planned in its biggest cities, Sydney and Melbourne. The Sydney Metro project is Australia’s largest public transport project.
Its first phase, Sydney Metro Northwest, is well underway and scheduled for completion in the first half of 2019. Over the coming decade, more than 200,000 people will move into Sydney’s North West, taking its population above 600,000. To accommodate increasing passenger demand in the next decade, the project will deliver a reliable public transport service to the region with the highest car ownership levels per household.
Of the three major contracts awarded to deliver and operate Sydney Metro, one was the $3.7 billion operations contract awarded to Northwest Rapid Transit, the largest Public Private Partnership ever awarded in New South Wales.
This coming March 21-22, Mark Elliott, CEO of Northwest Rapid Transit (NRT) will be joining us at the 19th Annual Asia Pacific Rail 2017 in Hong Kong, to discuss the role NRT is playing in delivering the first phase of the Sydney Metro Project. Mark has over 30 years’ experience and knowledge in infrastructure, construction, mining and operations and maintenance of assets. As the CEO of NRT, Mark has overall responsibility for all aspects for project delivery and systems operations which will see NRT deliver the Sydney Metro Northwest by the first half of 2019 and operating the network for the next 15 years.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn from Mark as he shares his insights on the scope of the contract and challenges in managing the largest PPP ever in NSW.
