Amadeus to distribute China Rail network globally

Travel agencies are now able to book, ticket and refund China Rail tickets directly in the Amadeus Selling Platform

China presents one of the greatest opportunities for the development of rail technologies. What Europe and Japan accomplished over 40 years, China has effectively quadrupled in little more than a decade. Today, China’s high-speed rail network stretches for over 25,000 kilometers[1], trailed by France with 3,200 kilometers, and is fast becoming an attractive complement to flying for travelers, as Rail provides a smooth and convenient alternative.

With China’s rail network expected to transfer more than 3.25 billion passengers[2] this year, the opportunity for travel agencies to enhance their competitive position and the traveler experience is significant. Amadeus is now enabling travel agencies to go beyond air and offer travelers simple access to the largest high-speed rail network on earth. The move sees Amadeus become the first platform to distribute China rail content to travel agencies beyond China and reinforce its commitment to become a major partner to the rail industry in Asia-Pacific.

Since November 2018, agents in important markets such as Central and Eastern Europe, and Asia Pacific are able to access and book China rail’s full range of fares through Amadeus, starting with Russia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Travel agencies are able book and refund tickets in multiple languages through the Amadeus Selling Platform, giving travelers who may experience high-language barriers when travelling in China, ease and convenience.
