F&B reservation platform eatigo has been making headlines recently with official launches all over Asia since 2016. The platform enables users to make online reservations at restaurants and enjoy a range of variable discounts from peak to non-peak hours. It now boosts a presence in Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia. We sat down with Michael Cluzel, eatigo’s CEO and Co-Founder for a quick fire Q&A on his thoughts behind the growing digital reservation market.
Q1) Hey Mike, congrats on the progress thus far with eatigo, tell us a bit about your role and what that involves on a daily basis
Thanks! Things have been picking up lately…Well for starters, I’m the CEO and co-founder of eatigo, I’m responsible for the strategy, business model, investor relations, and very involved in product. Through this app, we’re creating a win-win situation for both merchants or the restaurants as it enables them to attract customers during non-peak hours while our users will be able to enjoy their meals at a discounted rate!
Q2) What is the biggest challenge that you’re currently facing and how are your team solving it?
As we grow and scale the business, we’ve to think about the company too, …the company, its structure, processes and culture have to scale as well and slowly move from start up to full scale company. Making the business and company scale at the same time and same speed is a massive challenge! One not taken lightly.
Q3) What one trend in your industry has your attention and why?
The impact that direct reservations via google and restaurant websites will have on the overall industry
Q4) How has the industry changed since you first got involved in it?
More players have joined the industry but most are still low impact. So the opportunity is still massive as online reservations only make up a small percentage of total reservations.
Q5) Give us a sneak peek into what you’ll be presenting at Seamless Indonesia?
I’ll tell you about how we are so mobile first that 95% of our conversions happen on the mobile platform and show you how a streamlined, controlled and repeatable UX is key to this.
6) Why are you excited to be participating in the conference?
The part that most excites me is always interaction with the audience. When I speak I don’t learn anything but when ppl ask I get stimulated to think along new lines!
